Download OmegaT
Download instructions
OmegaT is available for download in several different versions. To obtain a suitable version, most users need only follow the link below and click on the button with the text "Download Now!". However, you may find it helpful to read the information below first.
Platform (operating system)
Versions of OmegaT are provided for Linux, Mac OS X, and different versions of Windows. The download page will automatically detect your operating system, so if you intend to install OmegaT on the computer to which you are downloading OmegaT, you do not need to worry about the version. If, however, you are downloading to one computer but intend to install OmegaT on another computer with a different operating system, select the link to the desired platform.
With/without JRE
In order to run, OmegaT requires the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to be installed on your computer. By default, the Windows and Linux packages provided for download contain the JRE and will install it automatically on your system for use with OmegaT.
If you are confident that a suitable version of the JRE is already installed on your computer, you can download a version of OmegaT without the JRE. The download will be faster, and the installation will require less space on your hard drive. In this case, select the link marked "Java not included".
However, if you install the OmegaT version even though the JRE is already installed on your computer, OmegaT's JRE will be installed separately and will not conflict with it. It is therefore always safe to install the version of OmegaT with JRE. If you are unsure whether or not you have a suitable version of the JRE, select the version with JRE (i.e. the default version).
Mac OS X users: the JRE is installed on Mac OS X by default; there is therefore no version for Mac OS X with the JRE.
Linux users: most Linux distributions are supplied with a Java Runtime Environment, but many of these are open-source implementations which do not work properly with OmegaT.We strongly recommend that you use Sun's version of the JRE, which is supplied in the default package.
Beta/alpha and other versions
The standard (default) version for download is the latest stable release. Other versions are also available, in particular:
"Development" (i.e. beta) versions are also available from the download site. They include new features not present in the current stable version. They are likely to be reasonably stable and usable, but may have some bugs. Documentation, particularly of new features, will be less comprehensive than that of the stable versions. Users who already have some experience with OmegaT may prefer the development versions. The development versions can be found under "Other - Development".
An advanced development or "alpha" version is also available. Unlike the "beta" version, this version is likely to be much less stable. It is recommended for serious developers only. It can be obtained using the subversion command:
svn co https://omegat.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/omegat/trunk omegat
The source code for OmegaT is also available.
A special build contributed by Dmitri Gabinski, with additional keyboard shortcuts, is also available here. (This build may be based upon an older build of OmegaT.)
